On 22nd January we were hit by a severe wind and hail storm. The storm only covered a narrow area but in 20 minutes incredble damage was achieved. The house was relatively unscathed with the roof-mounted airconditioning unit being the most unfortunate victim; however much of the main damage occurred only 100m away from the house where the shearers' quarters and toilet block as well as the shearing shed/workshop copped the full force of the storm. A molasses tank across the creek which had 4" of molasses left in it ended up in an adjoining paddock while another water tank was found 7-8km away to the west.
The meter pole was snapped and the powerline ended up across the roof of the shed.
Unfortunately the rain gauge also became airborne during the storm so we don't even know how much rain fell in that time but we certainly mopped up bucketfuls from inside the house.
